The ASTM A53 Grade B Pipe also has higher manganese in the composition. There is 1.2% manganese, carbon, phosphorus and sulfur in the composition. The pipes can come in different diameters and schedules. The diameters of the ASTM A53 Grade B Schedule 40 range from ¼ inches to 24 inches with wall thicknesses ranging according to the diameter and schedules. The A53 Grade B Pipe can be used with most conventional welding methods with preheating. When these pipes are to be fitted with other grades of components, addition of filler material might be required.
