Dog Spike, also named Track spike or Railroad spike. It's a type of rail fastenings and is mainly used in rail construction.
Rail spikes are important fixtures in the railway track system, mainly used to fix the rails to the sleepers or the ballast to ensure the stability of the track system and the safe operation of the train. The design and material of the spikes can withstand the huge external forces such as pressure, vibration and temperature changes generated during railway transportation. The main function of the spikes is to firmly fix the rails to the sleepers (or ballast) to prevent the rails from shifting or deforming when the train passes. The spikes can effectively disperse the pressure generated by the train running, prevent the sleepers or ballast from being subjected to excessive concentrated loads, and thus ensure the stability of the track.
