Latest company news about How To Deal With The Oxide Scale Produced By Seamless Pipes?

When the carbon steel tube is in use, the oxide film on the surface is not easy to fall off. Usually, oxide films are produced in a heating furnace. So, how to clean the oxide film on the surface of the carbon seamless steel tube?

Pickling: This is a common method for removing scale. During pickling, the pipe is immersed in an acidic solution, usually using dilute sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. Pickling can effectively remove scale, rust and other impurities, making the surface of the pipe smooth and clean. However, the pickling process needs to be carefully controlled to avoid adverse effects on the pipe, such as corrosion.
Mechanical Treatment: Scale can be removed using mechanical methods such as shot blasting or grinding. Shot peening is to impact the surface of the pipe by spraying high-speed particles, such as metal particles or abrasives, to remove scale and impurities. Grinding uses a grinding wheel to smooth out uneven parts of the surface.
Heat treatment: Through heat treatment, oxide scale can be reduced or removed to a certain extent. The high temperature during heat treatment can cause the scale to change or be reduced. However, the specific heat treatment conditions need to be determined according to the material and purpose of the pipe.
Chemical methods: Scale can be removed using chemical methods such as acid dissolution or reduction reactions. This requires the selection of appropriate chemicals based on the specific situation, as well as careful handling to avoid adverse effects on the pipe.
Electropolishing: This is a technique that uses electrochemical methods to remove scale. The pipe serves as an anode and the oxide layer on the surface is removed by electrolytic polishing. This method is suitable for occasions with high surface requirements.
When selecting a scale treatment method, the specific material, specifications, and end use of the pipe need to be considered. Different treatment methods may have different effects on the pipe surface, so the choice needs to be based on actual needs.
